Image
This is the Bluetooth speaker I built. It's not the finished product, but it's getting there. I tore the speaker cone on one of the drivers so i need to get another one, I built the box out of cigar box wood and the rims around the speaker are mason jar lids cut to size

New year's resolution

I have a plan for this year, though the year is already 2 months in. that's not going to hold me back from building a 3d printer. 3d printing is steadily becoming popular in the maker culture, the idea that you can print your own cups, plates, gun parts and virtual anything, Is grand! but the price range for a desktop 3d printer is between 500$-5,000. I want to build a printer that is cheaper then 500$ and reliable, I am not the first one whose endeavored to do this, many people have done this before with successful results and there are many resources for this project. I'm hoping my venture is rewarding (and cheap  :)

Monobox powered speaker

I'm working on 2 mono-box speakers for a auction, The first one you see in the pics is missing the grill (work in progress). The idea came from make magazine weekend project page: http://makezine.com/projects/make-34/monobox-powered-speaker-2/ . The sound of the speaker is not bad, in my opinion it would stand up to the 35$ speakers at Fry's. I used the lm386 amp (IC) for amplification, in the pictures I'm running it off a 9 volt battery but the max voltage is up to 15V dc and 200mA. For the input I'm using regular aux cable.  This project provides a great base to build off, There are tons of things you could add: solar powered, rechargeable battery, Bluetooth capabilities, skip and volume control, more channels, The possibilities are endless! I really like the idea of this project and I'm hoping to add on to it. This is not the end of this project I have plans to build another one that is made out of a black cigar box and has a Bluetooth reviver. Ke...
